Block Paving Sand
Magic Sand block paving sand is a cost effective, simple way of jointing paving slabs and block paving. Instead of using kiln dried sand to joint your pavers, which can wash out and allows weeds to take over; Magic Sand gives a lasting joint which naturally resists wash-out and weed for longer. Magic Sand is suitable for all joint widths and for a wide variety of paving. Magic Sand block paving sand is suitable for natural stone, concrete, slate, clay, terracotta and granite and can be used in areas subject to light vehicular traffic.
Unit Size and Coverage Rates
Magic Sand is supplied in 20kg tubs. The typical coverage per tub will vary depending on paving unit size, joint width and joint depth, but the table below will provide an indicative guide.Â
Existing 'Standard' Block Paving'Â - 200x100x20mm (LxWxD) with a 2.5mm wide joint - 1 20kg tub will cover approximately 17 sqm
New 'Standard Block Paving'Â - 200x100x50mm (LxWxD) with a 2.5mm wide joint - 1 20kg tub will cover approximately 6.9 sqm
Existing 'Patio Slabs'Â - 450x450x20mm (LxWxD) with a 10mm joint width - 1 tub will cover approximately 14.7 sqm
New 'Patio Slabs'Â - 450x450x50mm (LxWxD) with a 10mm joint width - 1 tub will cover approximately 5.9 sqm
1. Should you be jointing an area of existing/old paving; the area should be thoroughly cleaned using a pressure washer and a minimum of 20mm depth of the existing jointing product removed.
2. If any of your slabs are loose, why not use FixIT grout and bedding mortar to;re-lay them.
3. Before you apply Magic Sand you need to ensure that the paving is completely dry and no rain is expected. The paving should be clean with no dirt/detritus present.
4. Before applying the ;Magic Sand block paving sand, it should be lightly stirred. Pour enough PaveJoint out to treat the desired area.
5. Sweep the Magic Sand over the paving, working it back and forth to ensure it is pouring to the bottom of the joints.
6. Once you are satisfied that the Magic Sand has filled the joints entirely; a light sweep of the surface is required to remove any surplus PaveJoint.
7. Using a watering can with a rose or a hose with a 'fine' pattern sprayer; thoroughly wet the area - ensuring that enough water is applied to soak into the PaveJoint - be careful not to spray the hose directly at the joint as this may wash some of the PaveJoint away.
8. Whilst soaking the area, the paving should be swept to loosen any remaining PaveJoint residue from the surface; avoid sweeping too hard as the PaveJoint may inadvertently be removed from the joint.
9. Leave the Magic Sand to dry for at least 8 hours.
